November 30th
Students learned how to make a patch pocket and practiced mitering corners using a piece of aluminum foil. This sample will be due tomorrow at the end of class.

November 29th
At the start of class, we finished ironing and under-stitching the facing sample we have been working on. Once that was turned in, students started to cut out and serge the fabric for their patch pocket sample.

November 24th
Students continued to work on their facing samples today. We worked on sewing the sample together, clipping the inward curve, and understitching.
November 23rd
Students learned about how to apply and use fusible interfacings and creating facings on shirts by creating a facings sample. This will take two days of class time and will be due tomorrow (Wednesday) at the end of class. Students will also learn about trimming layers and understitching.

Students had a sub today, since I am not feeling well. They watched a video on different sewing projects they could do with recyled materials.

At the start of class today, they were shown examples of different types of interfacing and we discussed what they are used for. They were then given time to cut out the pattern, fabric and interfacing for their facing sample we will be working on Monday.

Today was the last day students had to work on their pillows in class. These were due today in to the basket by the end of class.

November 15th
I explained how to complete their pillow and some of the most common mistakes or parts of the project that students overlook or skip that will take points from their grade by reading through the rubric with the class. The students were then given the rest of class to start and work on their pillows.
November 12th
We discussed and demonstrated different pieces of marking equipment on fabric and then the students were given time to work with each piece of marking equipment, which they then turned in as a sample for 25 points at the end of the class period.
November 11th
Students learned how to sew corners and clip the extra fabric off at the corner so when it is turned, it creates a sharper point. They had a sample to complete on this as well and should have been turned in by the end of the class period.

November 9th
Students learned how to read and use the information contained on the front and back of a pattern envelope. There was an assignment that went along with this and each student should have turned it in before the end of class.

Students learned to identify the most common symbols used on patterns. They did this by discussing the symbols and matching the symbol to the meaning on a sheet as well as deciphering the symbols on an actual pattern piece.

Students were given the whole class period to work on the hand-stitches they learned about last week. These are due today at the end of class.

Students were given the whole class period to work on the hand-stitches they learned about last week. These will be due at the end of class on Friday.
November 3rd
Today was the last day students were given in class to work on their fleece hats. Most students finished and moved on to creating fleece scarves or extra hats for extra credit. Students who did not finish were those who were not prepared with their fabric or missed class time to work on their projects. Pillow fabric and stuffing is due on November 11th.

November 2nd
There was no class today due to the 9th grade Science assembly. Any student who did not bring in their permission form for the assembly did have to come to class and did homework or read instead.
