December 22nd
Students continued working on their pajama pants. Most worked on finishing their waistband elastic and hemming the bottom of the pant legs. We will finish these up after they return from winter break.
December 21st
Students continued working on their pajama bottoms today. Most students finished cutting their pieces out, sewed and serged the inseams together and started on sewing and serging the crotch seam.

Students were shown how to cut out their pajama pants and were given the rest of class time to pin and cut out their fabric.

December 17th
Today was their last day to work on their Back Sacks. Those who finished turned it in to the basket for grading. These will be returned to them by winter break. Their fabric and elastic was also due for their pajama pant project, which we will start tomorrow. Those who didn't finish can stay after school today (Thursday) or will have to arrange a time with me to stay after school and finish sometime after the break.
December 16th
Students worked on their back sack project. Most finished working on forming the casing around the top and started working on the bottom of their bag. They were also reminded that their fabric and elastic is due tomorrow, Thursday, December 17th and their bags are due tomorrow as well.

December 11th
Students worked on their back sack project. Most were working on the outside pocket and sewing their button and buttonhole. They were also reminded that their fabric and elastic is due on Thursday, December 17th.

December 10th
Students worked on their back sack project. Most were working on the inside patch pocket of their bag, sewed on the velcro and pocket to their bag and started on the outside pocket. They were also reminded that their fabric and elastic is due on Thursday, December 17th.
December 9th
Students worked on their back sack project. They traced out the three patterns, cut them out and serged the raw edges of the fabric. Some started working on the next steps, which is the patch pocket. We will continue working on these the rest of the week and finish these towards the beginning of next week. They were also reminded that the fabric and elastic for their PJs are due on the 17th of December.

December 8th
Students learned the proper way to sew on a button by hand. Once they finished this and turned in their button/buttonhole sample they started their back sack by tracing out the patterns onto their fabric some where able to cut these out.
December 7th
Students were shown how to sew buttons on by machine. They were then given the rest of class time to practice this skill and to finish their buttonholes.

December 4th
Students were shown how to make button holes and how to sew buttons on by machine. They were then given the rest of class time to practice these two skills. We will finish this sample on Monday before we start the Back Sack. Their fabric for their back sack project was also due today.

December 3rd
Students' fabric and interfacing for their next project (back sack) is due tomorrow. Students finished putting their material and interfacing together for their sample today. They were then shown how to make buttonholes and how to sew on buttons using the sewing machines. The students then had the rest of class time to work on this sample. This will be due tomorrow at the end of class.
December 2nd
Students were given time in class to finish the patch pocket samples. After they finished, we discussed the importance of selecting the correct button type and size for a project. Tomorrow they will learn how to make a buttonhole and on Friday they will learn how to sew on a button by hand and by machine. Students were also reminded that their fabric is due Friday for their back sack project.
