October 27th

Today was the last day students were given in class to work on their fleece hats. Most students finished and moved on to creating fleece scarves or extra hats for extra credit. Students who did not finish were those who were not prepared with their fabric or missed class time to work on their projects. Pillow fabric and stuffing is due on November 9th.

October 26th

Students continued to work on their fleece hats. They were also reminded that their pillow fabric and stuffing is due for their next project on Monday, November 9th. This will be the first project on next terms grade.

October 22nd

Today we started fleece hats. Students had a variety of hats to choose from: ski hat, infant beanie, multi-colored beanie, etc. Each student measured their own head to make sure the hat they will make fits them correctly. By combining all of the techniques we've learned so far, students should be able to make a very nice looking winter hat! They were also reminded that today was the last day to turn in any late/missing/absent work as well as any extra credit, which includes any unused hall or late passes they still have.

Today we started our serge samples. Students are making three serge samples: one square, one in the shape of Utah (to practice serging a corner), and one curve.

October 12th

Students learned about serging today. We talked about what a serger does, how to sew correctly on a serger and how to take care of it. We also talked about common mistakes made when using a serger and how to fix it. I then gave them the rest of the class time to finish the pattern layouts we started on Friday.
