June 3rd
Students were given their final grades and citizenship. They checked for any mistakes which may have been made by me or the computer. We also discussed different careers that are available in the clothing industry and watched a video on some of these careers.
June 2nd
The students had a reading assignment on how clothing is manufactured to fit different uses and levels of comfort.
June 1st
The students learned how clothing is manufactured using assembly line construction and new technology and equipment. An example was shown on how Levi jeans are made.
May 29th
The students learned tips to use when shopping to find quality clothing and ways to be smarter clothing consumers. State skills test results and certificates will be handed out on Monday at the start of class.
May 28th
Students took the Clothing 1 State skills test in the computer lab, which is the final for the class. They were given the whole class period, plus more time during 5th/first lunch, if needed, to take this. The tests will be submitted to the State office of education for scoring and results should be returned by Friday or Monday. This is worth 100 points on their grade.
May 27th
Students went to the computer lab today to work on a practice test to help them study for the Clothing state skills test which students will take on Thursday. The practice test is found at: lemonkitchen.dud.utips.org and click on the Clothing 1 State Test review. Their skills test is scheduled for Thursday. They could also work on their study guides and they were also shown how to access a site to view a tutorial on how to take their test online.
May 26th
Students went to the computer lab today to work on a practice test to help them study for the Clothing state skills test which students will take on Thursday. May 22nd
Students were given today to work on their study guides for their final (State skills test). They were also provided with a matching game to review pattern symbols and a 20 questions game to review the course material. The state skills test will be given on May 28th and is worth 100 points on their grade. If a student is going to be absent this day, they must arrange with me to take it on the Tuesday or Wednesday before. Once the students take it on Thursday, the tests will be submitted for scoring and cannot be accessed again after this day.

May 20th
We played bingo with the sewing vocabulary terms students will need to know for their state skills test. We will be reviewing for this test all of this week and a few days next week before they take this test.

May 18th
Students were given today to work on their study guides for their final (State skills test). We will be reviewing for this test all of this week and a few days next week before they take this test.
May 15th
Students continued to work on their webquest on stain removal up in the computer lab. The answers are due at the beginning of class tomorrow. Students who were absent have until Monday to finish working on this.
May 14th
Students worked in the computer lab today learning about stain removal techniques on a website. They will have today and tomorrow to work on this and will be due tomorrow at the end of class.
May 13th
Students had today to create their own care label and hang tag for one of their projects. This was due at the end of class and is worth 25 points.
May 12th
Students learned about international clothing care symbols and used the symbols to create clothing labels as well as translate care labels from other countries.
May 11th
Today was the last day to turn in their pajama pants and to catch-up and turn in any other past assignments which were done on the sewing machines.
May 8th
Students continued working on their pajama pants. Most worked on finishing their waistband elastic and hemming the bottom of the pant legs. These are due by the end of class on Monday, but the students will only have Monday to work on them.
May 7th

May 6th
Students continued working on their pajama bottoms today. Most students finished cutting their pieces out, sewed and serged the inseams together and started on sewing and serging the crotch seam. Students will have the rest of the week to work on this project as well.
May 5th
The students had a sub today, they learned how to wash and care for their clothing. The steps/process was discussed. Students also learned about the dry cleaning process. The deadline for them to be off their sewing machines and done with all projects has been extended one day because of my illness to May 11th.
May 4th
Students were shown how to cut out their pajama pants and were given the rest of class time to pin and cut out their fabric.

May 1st
The students were given points for their Pajama pant fabric and elastic, which was due today. Students then learned how to make blind hems using their sewing machine and their blind hem foot. After they finished and turned this in, they were given the rest of class to catch-up on any missing assignments or unfinished projects they are still working on. They were also reminded that the last day to turn in and work on any projects or samples will be on May 8th, which is a week from today!
