November 26th
Students continued to work on their purse/tie projects. Students will have one more day (Monday) to work on this project, then they will have to come after school on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of this week to finish in the lab on our equipment. Students are not allowed to take these home to finish since all projects need to be completed in the lab. Also, students were given the due date for their pajama pant fabric and elastic. These are due on December 5th and the fabric needs to be pre-washed and ironed in order to start their project.

Students continued working on their purse and tie projects today during class. Most were cutting out their pieces out of fabric and interfacing today.

November 19th
Students started on their purse and tie project. Most students worked on pinning on their patterns and cutting out their fabric today. They will be working on these the rest of the week, all of next week and will be due on December 1st after we return from the Thanksgiving Break.

November 18th
Students continued learning about and working on their button and buttonhole samples. They watched a demonstration of both and then worked on their own samples. These were be due at the end of class. Students will be starting on their purse/tie projects tomorrow as well. The fabric and interfacing for this project was due today. Each student was given 25 points for being prepared. If they did not have their materials or if they were absent, it is now the student's responsibility to write on a piece of paper that they have their materials and turn the paper into the turn-in basket. If they were here when this was due, they must attach a late pass to the paper to earn full points for this assignment.

November 17th
The students read about making buttonholes and choosing correct buttons today. They also made their fabric and interfacing sample for class tomorrow so that we can spend tomorrow creating buttons and buttonholes. Their fabric and interfacing is also due tomorrow at the start of class.

November 14th
Students were given the entire class time to work on and finish the patch pocket samples. After they finished, they were given the rest of class time to read about common sewing machine and serger malfunctions.

November 13th
Students started working on their patch-pocket sample. They learned how to miter corners and reinforce the tops of pockets to take more stress. Students will finish these tomorrow and should turn them in by the end of class tomorrow (Friday).
November 12th
The students were given all of class today to finish and iron their facing sample which was due at the end of class. We will be going on to patch pockets tomorrow.

November 11th
Students continued to work on their facing samples today. We worked on sewing the sample together, clipping the inward curve, and understitching. Students will be given part of class tomorrow to finish these before we move on to patch pockets. Also, Interfacing and fabric for their tie/purse project is due November 18th for 25 points.

November 10th
Students learned about how to apply and use fusible interfacings and creating facings on shirts by creating a facing sample. This will take two days of class time and will be due tomorrow (Tuesday) at the end of class. Students will also learn about trimming layers and understitching tomorrow.

At the start of class today, they were shown examples of different types of interfacing and we discussed what they are used for. They were also told that their fabric and interfacing for their purse or tie project is due on November 18th. They were then given the rest of the class period to finish and turn in their pillow. If they did not finish, they can come in after school on Wednesday or Thursday of next week to finish.

Students were given all of class today to work on their pillows. These will be due tomorrow (Friday)

Students continued working on the pillows they started on Monday. These will be due on Friday, November 7th since they were not able to sew yesterday.
November 4th
Students had a sub today. The watched "Cypher in the Snow" and wrote about someone they know who has been left out and forgotten. They also had to share something about themselves that no own else knows. Their pillows will be due on Friday since they missed a sewing day today since I was gone.

November 3rd
New hall passes and late passes were given to the students for this new term. They were given points for having their supplies for their pillows or partial points for being partially prepared. It is now the responsibility of the students to write a note and place it in the basket with a late passes when they bring the rest of their supplies so that I can add the points to Skyward. I explained how to complete their pillow and some of the most common mistakes or parts of the project that students overlook or skip that will take points from their grade by reading through the rubric with the class. The students were then given the rest of class to start and work on their pillows.
