December 20th
Students were given study guides for their final (State skills test) to work on over the winter break. The state skills test will be given on January 10th and is worth 100 points on their grade. There is no make-up for this test! This is thee one and only time I can give this test. After class, the booklets and scantrons are sent to the State office of education.

December 19th
Students learned how to read and use the information contained on the front and back of a pattern envelope. This was done as a class, so the students kept the information they learned in their binder.

December 18th
Students watched a video on how to measure different parts of the body to figure out their sizes in common patterns. We also did a demonstration, then students partnered up with a friend to take their measurements and find out their sizes in preparation for making their pajama bottoms.

December 17th
Today was the last day students had in class to work on their tie/purse projects. If they did not finish, there will be an open lab on Tuesday and Wednesday after school. If they are not turned in by Thursday, they will be counted as late/missing.

December 14th
Students continued to work on their purse/tie projects. A few students have already turned in their projects and more will be turning them in today. Students will have one more day (Monday) to work on this project, then they will have to come after school on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week to finish in the lab on our equipment. Students are not allowed to take these home to finish since all projects need to be completed in the lab.
December 13th
Students were given all of the class period today to work on their tie/purse project. They were also reminded about their Pajama pant fabric and elastic, as well as the due date for this current project.

December 12th
Students continued to work on their tie/purse project. These will be due on Friday. If they do not finish, they will have to come after school to use the equipment. They cannot work on these at home. They must be completed at the school in the lab. Students were also reminded about their fabric and elastic needed after the winter break.

December 11th
Students continued working on their ties/purses. These are due on Friday. Students will start working on Pajama pants on January 2nd. Fabrics needs to be washed, ironed and ready to go and the also must bring 1 yard of 1 inch wide elastic. They will receive points for having both of these on this day.

December 7th
Students started on their purse and tie project. Most students worked on pinning on their patterns and cutting out their fabric today. They will be working on these most of next week.

December 6th
Students continued learning about and working on their button and buttonhole samples. They watched a demonstration of both and then worked on their own samples. These will be due tomorrow (Friday) at the end of class. Students will be starting on their purse/tie projects tomorrow as well.

December 5th
Students finished putting their material and interfacing together for their sample. They were then shown how to make buttonholes and sew buttons on using the sewing machines. The students then had the rest of class time to work on this sample. This will be due tomorrow at the end of class.
December 4th
Students had a sub today. The watched "Cypher in the Snow" and wrote about someone they know who has been left out and forgotten. They also had to share something about themselves that no own else knows.

December 3rd
Students learned about the importance and functions of buttons using a powerpoint and visuals. They also prepared their fabric and interfacing for their sample tomorrow on creating buttonholes and sewing on buttons using the sewing machine.
